I want to draw up a workable manifesto for clean, quiet, safe cities, principally by removing all but essential private vehicles from the streets. We have a climate crisis, and we also have an air quality crisis in most of our cities. Yet we continue to make millions of unnecessary car journeys every day. Our streets are hopelessly congested, noisy, dangerous and dirty. Yes, government needs to do far more (anything!), but individuals also must play their part, and make responsible choices.
